Grace Lavern Daniels, a beacon of love and laughter, passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on May 2, 1949, in Robstown, Texas, to the late George W. Epps, Sr. and Virginia Mae Lott Epps, Grace's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of creativity. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be remembered by all who knew her. Grace professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized and was a long-time member of St. John First Baptist in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was a beloved wife to her late husband, Lennard Matthew Daniels, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family that became her pride and joy. Grace's humor and intelligence were the cornerstones of her personality. She was known for her quick wit and the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face. Her loving nature made her a pillar in her family and community, and those who knew her would describe her as not just funny and intelligent, but also exceptionally loving. She leaves behind cherished memories with her two daughters, Gwennifer Kaye Epps and Carol Yvette Epps; her sister, Barbara Jean Jackson; six grandchildren, Amisha Gilmore, Letichia Blue, Vanecia Epps-Arredondo, Jasmine Randall, Mikell Epps, and Mia Epps-Hicks; and ten great-grandchildren. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George Epps Jr., Horace Epps Sr., Mitchell D. Epps; her sisters, Lucrecia E. Baldwin, Geraldine Tatum, Brenda Epps Richardson; and her three sons, Terry Lynn Epps, Edward Wendall Epps, and Michael LaRue Epps. Grace's talents extended into the realm of arts and crafts, where she found great joy in making handcrafted quilts. Her unique creations were not just blankets but woven stories of her life, often given as gifts that provided comfort and warmth to her loved ones. Her dexterity and creativity in her craft were admired by all who were lucky enough to receive one of her quilts. Throughout her life, Grace's actions embodied the scripture, "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy" (Matthew 5:7). Her merciful heart was evident in the way she interacted with everyone she met, always giving more than she received. Her legacy is one of compassion, laughter, and the enduring strength of family bonds. As we bid farewell to Grace Lavern Daniels, we celebrate a life richly lived and a soul that touched so many. Her memory will live on in the quilts she crafted, the laughter she shared, and the love she spread. Grace's life was a beautiful quilt of experiences, stitched together with joy, love, and the memories that will be treasured by her family and friends forever.
