Gregorio Q Martinez

Gregorio Q. “El Maestro” Martinez passed away on March 2, 2021 at the age of 81. He was born on May 9, 1939 in Robstown, Texas to the late Aurelio and Antonia Martinez.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.  Gregorio taught pipefitting, welding, blueprints and he also taught numerous employees throughout his career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio and Antonia Martinez; son, Gregorio A. Martinez, Jr., granddaughter, Jessica Martinez; siblings; Joe Q. Martinez, Gilberto Q. Martinez, Susana Montelongo, Juana Barrera and Yolanda Tubbs.

Gregorio is survived by his wife of 63 years, Amelia Martinez; children, Elizabeth M. Villegas, Aurelio A. Martinez, Sr. (Basila), and Javier A. Martinez; siblings; Gloria Garcia and Guadalupe Guzman (Domingo); 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, March 7, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a rosary to be recited 6:00 PM.  A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Treviño Funeral Home Chapel.  Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
