Gregory Herman
Wetegrove
May 19, 1962 — Sep 14, 2026
Corpus Christi
Gregory Herman Wetegrove passed suddenly from his earthly journey on September 14, 2026. He was born on May 19, 1962, to Herman Joseph and Winifred (Winnie) Raymond Wetegrove. Greg graduated from high school at Texas Military Institute (TMI) in San Antonio in 1980 and from college at Corpus Christi State University in 1985. He returned to Raymondville, Texas to live at the historic Raymond Family ranch, Las Majadas.
He worked in Raymondville for many years making numerous cherished friends. He then moved to Corpus Christi and worked there for many years until his sudden passing. Greg never met a stranger and would ask them when their birthday was. He developed a "trademark" endearing quality and incredible network of "birthday call lists". He would call everyone on their birthdays or anniversaries and wish them well.
He was a kind, caring, loving, hardworking, loyal, and compassionate man. His great passions were, golf, birthday calls, knowing the words to every 60's, 70's, and 80's songs and artists, and was an ardent University of Texas Longhorn football fan, with every phone conversation ending in "Hook 'Em Horns".
He chose to be an organ donor and that donation was successfully fulfilled, thus the giving of himself was his final benefit for helping others. Such a beautiful gift. He is survived by his brothers, Charles Edward, Joseph Michael, Raymond Frederick (Lisa), and John Patrick Wetegrove, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Winnie Wetegrove.
A memorial chapel service will be held at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., Corpus Christi, TX 78405 on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Heart Association. He will be sorely missed.
