IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Guadalupe
Gutierrez
March 10, 1965 – February 24, 2026
Guadalupe Gutierrez entered peacefully into eternal life while surrounded by her loving family on February 24, 2026, in Orange Grove, Texas, at the age of 60. She was born on March 10, 1965, in Mathis, Texas, and was better known as “Pita”. However, the titles “Mom, “Grandma”, or “Tia” were music to her ears. She was a cherished homemaker and beloved matriarch of her family and community.
Pita attended the Mathis Independent School District and was a proud Mathis High School graduate of the class of 1983. She embraced the spirit of being a proud Mathis Pirate.
As a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, tia, cousin, and friend, Pita lived her life with the utmost devotion to her family. She instilled in her loved ones the importance of family love and unity, often reminding her children "portense bien", a phrase she used often. Her generous spirit and kind heart made her a refuge for those around her, always offering guidance, teaching the art of cooking, or simply lending an ear to listen. Within her family, she is remembered not only for her nurturing personality but also for her incredible culinary skills, particularly her delicious tortillas and her mouth-watering tamales and meals that brought everyone together.
Pita had a passion for Tejano music and loved listening and dancing to all different rhythms. She also enjoyed the thrill of playing Bingo, Chalupa, and Trumpito, pastimes that brought her joy and laughter alongside her cherished family and friends. However, her favorite pastime was going to the game rooms to play “maquinitas” and buying lottery tickets.
Pita had a profound appreciation for holidays, with Valentine's Day, Easter, and Christmas holding special places in her heart. Christmas was a time when her home transformed into a festive haven filled with love, laughter, and family gatherings. The warm atmosphere was enhanced by her delightful decorations, featuring beautifully lit Christmas trees and heartfelt holiday crafts that she lovingly created.
Her upbringing was steeped in old-fashioned values, including respect, honesty, hard work, and strong faith, all of which she passed down to her family. She found joy in crafting and was able to create stunning items from simple materials like paper, napkins, and coffee cans. During Valentine’s Day, her home would be adorned with hanging hearts, while Christmas brought out her child-like spirit in joyful decorations reflecting her deep faith.
Pita is survived by her loving children, Roy Rosenbaum, Leslie Hernandez, Laura Rosenbaum (John David Priddy), and Linda Sue (Paul) Strong; her sister, Diana Marquez (Joey Montez); her cherished grandchildren, Nyla Rosenbaum, Royce Rosenbaum, Phoenix Engel, Joshua Hernandez, Irisz Hernandez, Eli Hernandez, Aiden Priddy, Macy Priddy, Mavis Priddy, and Lindy Sue Strong; her sister-in-law, Mary Gutierrez; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Pita is preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Rosenbaum; her parents, Ramiro and Otilia Gutierrez Sr.; her siblings, Diana Gutierrez, Lydia Flores, Jose Antonio Gutierrez, Juan Daniel Gutierrez, Ramiro Gutierrez Jr; a grandchild, Kyla Rosenbaum; and a nephew, Ruben Antonio Gutierrez.
Pita’s family will receive condolences on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, a funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:00 AM to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis, Texas, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Descanso Eterno #2, where Pita will be laid to rest in the Peace of Christ.
Honoring Pita as pallbearers will be Linda Strong, Laura Rosenbaum, Nyla Rosenbaum, Royce Rosenbaum, Phoenix Engel, and Macy Priddy.
Guadalupe Gutierrez will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her legacy of love and unity will forever be etched in their hearts.
