Guadalupe Lopez

Guadalupe “Lupe” Lopez, age 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away late on August 6, 2024. Her family was with her as she ascended to Heaven.

Guadalupe graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1966 and married her high school sweetheart, Nicanor G. Lopez. Guadalupe was a caring mother of three children who loved her. She was able to travel the world with her family and, after coming back to Corpus Christi, gave her heart to the children at the Women’s shelter (Purple Door) for over 20 years. This love was also shared with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Guadalupe’s love for her family extended past her children to her nieces and nephews. She loved to craft and watch scary movies and Judge Judy. Even as she was lying in a hospital bed, she kept watching with her family.

Guadalupe was the oldest of eight children. She was born to Esteban Alvarado and Dolores Alvarado (Guerrero), who preceded her in death, along with her brother, Richard Alvarado, and sisters Estella Alvarado, Gregoria Alvarado, and Lydia Motsinger.

She is survived by her husband, Nicanor G. Lopez, Sr.; daughter, Guadalupe “Dee Dee” Lopez; two sons, Nicanor G Lopez, Jr. and Esteban A. Lopez; and her many other family members that include nine grandkids and twelve great-grandkids.

Guadalupe’s family will receive condolences on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7:00 PM that evening. Rite of Committal and Interment will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
