Guadalupe Canales Mota passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on April 25, 1945, Guadalupe lived a life centered on love, family, faith, and the quiet gifts of care she gave so freely to those around her.
She will be remembered as a woman who found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. She enjoyed exercising when she was able, and she expressed her love through sewing and creating keepsakes for her family, leaving behind treasured reminders of her hands and heart. Family time and family gatherings were among her greatest joys, and those moments together meant the world to her. She also cherished spending time with her sister in San Antonio. Her devoted faith played a major role in who she was and in the way her family will always remember her.
Guadalupe’s love lives on in her children, Rodolfo Mota, Pedro Mota, Roy Mota, Eric Mota, Elizabeth McGraw, and Liza Mota. She is also survived by her sisters, Julia Galaviz of Chicago, Illinois, and Jesusa Mata of San Antonio, Texas. In their grief, her family also carries deep gratitude for the many memories they shared with her, the strength of her example, and the love she gave throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Canales, and her father, Jesus Canales; her daughters, Norma Jean Mota and Maryann Luna; her sons, Adolfo Mota Jr. and Rolando C. Mota; the love of her life, Gilbert M. Rios; her brothers, Jesus Canales Jr. and Oscar Canales; and her sisters, Teresa Benavidez, Melba Vasquez, and Irma Perez.
Guadalupe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her family will hold close the warmth of her presence, the comfort of her faith, and the many lasting memories she created through a life devoted to those she loved.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Visitation on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM.
