Hector Vargas Sr.

Hector G. Vargas, Sr., known affectionately as Hector by his friends and family, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on October 18, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Hector was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. His passing, due to illness, occurred in the same city where he drew his first breath, surrounded by the landscapes and community that were integral to his story.

Hector's life was marked by his dedication to the city of Corpus Christi, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. Hector’s contributions were not just limited to his professional role; his generous spirit led him to put his handy skills to work for his beloved city, being an active participant in various associations. He was known for going above and beyond in his service to the community, embodying the essence of a public servant.

As a man of the great outdoors, Hector found solace and joy in nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, often found casting a line into the waters or tracking game through the brush. Hector also enjoyed horseback riding, not just as a hobby, but as a passion, and he spent many hours exploring trails and paths both known and undiscovered. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his talent for BBQing, a skill he showcased at numerous family gatherings, which he held so dear.

Family was the cornerstone of Hector's life. He was the patriarch of a loving family, and his presence was a warm and comforting constant at every gathering. His love was the kind that nourished, and his legacy is one of enduring affection and unity. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being surrounded by his loved ones, sharing stories, laughing, and BBQing.

Hector's character was the epitome of generosity, love, and handiness. He was the person you could rely on to fix a broken fence, offer a helping hand, or give the shirt off his back. His compassionate nature and willingness to help others made him a cherished figure in his community.

As we mourn the loss of Hector G. Vargas, Sr., we also celebrate a life beautifully lived. He was a man who made a profound impact on everyone he met, and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
