Obituary

Henry Reta Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 9, 1937, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Enrique Reta Sr. and Carmen Espino Reta, Henry was a lifelong resident of the city he proudly called home.

Henry lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. A proud graduate of Roy Miller High School, he enjoyed returning throughout the years to attend football games and cheer on his beloved Buccaneers. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, carrying the values of service, integrity, and perseverance with him throughout his life.

Gifted with a remarkable talent for working with his hands, Henry built a respected career as a motor rewinder. He dedicated more than 30 years to Bradley’s Motor and Armature Works before continuing his trade with CD Electric for another 20 years. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took great pride in every job he completed.

Outside of work, Henry found joy in working on cars and fixing just about anything that needed repair. Whether rebuilding a motor, tinkering under the hood of a car, cheering on the Miller Buccaneers, or helping a family member in need, Henry could always be counted on to lend a hand. If something needed to get done, Henry would find a way to make it happen.

Those who knew him best will remember his determination, independence, and strong spirit. He could be stubborn at times, but that same determination was one of his greatest strengths. He took tremendous pride in his independence, especially his ability to continue driving at 88 years old.

Above all else, Henry’s greatest love was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose steady presence brought comfort, guidance, and strength to those around him. His love was often shown through actions rather than words—through the rides he gave, the problems he solved, the help he offered, and the countless ways he showed up for the people he loved.

He is survived by his children, Teresa Alaniz (Eva), Martin Reta (Jackie), and Carlos Reta; the mother of his children and former wife, Lucy Reta; his siblings, Josephine Reta, Evangelina Miller, Angelita Reta, Jesus Reta, and Luis Reta; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique Reta Sr. and Carmen Espino Reta, and his brother, George Reta.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Henry’s life. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Treviño Funeral Home, with family visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Henry’s legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
