Homero Anguiano Sr. passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on May 16, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Homero, better known as Homer, was born on March 4, 1956, in Alice, Texas. Homer’s life was marked by commitment to family and community.
Homer was a proud graduate of Alice High School. He then devoted 39 years to the oilfield industry working diligently with CC Forbes and Key Energy before retiring after many years of honorable service. His work ethic was matched by his punctuality, respectfulness, generosity, and compassion; qualities that defined not only his professional life but also his approach to his family and friends.
Homer’s vibrant personality came alive in the joy he found in music, dancing, and fellowship. He delighted in old Tejano music, corridos, and artists such as Elvis Presley, Los Tigres Del Norte, and CCR. His love for playing “las maquinitas” and watching Dallas Cowboys games showed his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Known affectionately for enjoying time at what he called the “Coffee Shop,” he shared camaraderie with friends over a few drinks of Natural Lite and friendly games of pool.
Above all, his family was his world and the titles “Dad” and “Jefe”, were music to his ears. The grandchildren were the joy and light of his life and hearing them call “Grandpa” brought him immeasurable joy. Gatherings with family and friends were something he looked forward to as he took great pride in barbecuing and celebrating with loved ones, treasuring every moment spent together.
Homer is survived by his loving children, Adam (Marisela Ybarra) Anguiano, Homero (Rosario) Anguiano Jr., Nicole Anguiano (Nathan) Jeffery, Mariana Mia Anguiano, and Esperanza “Hope” Anguiano. He was also a devoted son to Emma Pena, a brother to Linda Anguiano (Eli) Garcia and Hector (Sylvia) Anguiano, and brother-in-law to Marina Anguiano. His legacy lives on through his 18 grandchildren and his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Estela Soto Anguiano; his father, Humberto Anguiano Sr.; his son, Anthony Anguiano; his daughter, Erica Anguiano; his infant grandson, Homero Anguiano III; and his brothers, Herman Anguiano and Humberto “Beto” Anguiano.
Homero Anguiano Sr.’s life was a testament to hard work, laughter, and unwavering love for family. His presence brought light and happiness into the lives of those around him, and his spirit will continue to inspire and comfort all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered with deep respect and affection.
