Isabel Loya was born in San Benito, Texas on May 14, 1951 to Jose and Alicia Loya. She passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022, after a lengthy illness. As a family, we were all blessed to be with her when she went home. She was surrounded by her family and dear friends, Nancy Busby and Ophie Castro.
From childhood Isabel was a feisty, funny, full of life person who loved sports and was a great athlete. Isabel was a teacher, principal, and coach and was a friend and mentor to all. She encouraged all whom she met to succeed and to stand up for oneself. To Isabel, there were no strangers, only potential friends. She was a generous, kind, and caring person who will be dearly missed.
Isabel is survived by her two sisters, Maria E. Crawford and Mary Alice Crawford; her two brothers, Jose M. Loya and Ricardo Loya; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held a Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
