Israel Manuel Luera, Sr.

Israel Manuel Luera, Sr., SP4 of the United States Army, passed away on April 17, 2025. Born on November 10, 1946, in Alice, TX, Israel Manuel Luera, Sr., lived a life of service, honor, and dedication to both country and loved ones.

Israel Manuel Luera, Sr., SP4 proudly served in the United States Army from June 5, 1967, to May 17, 1969.  He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and SPS M-14 Medal and was respected by peers for his exceptional leadership and courage.

Beyond his military service, Israel Manuel Luera, Sr., was a devoted spouse to Consuelo (Connie) Luera and three children, who exemplified integrity and kindness. He was passionate about spending time with his family and fishing.

Israel Manuel Luera, Sr. is preceded by his late wife, Consuelo (Connie) Luera, and son, Jacob A. Luera. He is survived by his sons, Israel (Dawn) Luera, Jr. and Carlos Luera; daughter-in-law, Audrey Luera; grandchildren, Lorena Luera, Anthony Luera, Izabella Luera, Jonathan Luera, Israel Luera III, Dominic Luera, and Adelina Luera; great-grandchild, Jacob Luera; and numerous nephews and nieces.  He will be deeply missed, but his legacy as both a patriot and a family pillar will live on in those who knew and loved them.

Israel’s family will receive condolences Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM; with Prayer Service to begin at 12:00 PM. Services will conclude that day in the chapel.

Rite of Committal and Inurnment with Full Military Honors is scheduled on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
