Jacinto "Chinto" Lucio, Jr.

Jacinto Lucio, Jr., affectionately known as "Chinto," was born on September 30, 1961, in Alice, Texas. He passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Chinto lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and love of family.

Chinto devoted much of his career to the oilfield industry, where his industrious nature and strong work ethic shone brightly. He was a man who believed in the importance of faith, respect, honesty, and punctuality, showcasing these old-fashioned values not only in his own life, but also instilling them in those around him. He was known for his encouraging advice: "You want it, make it happen, don't depend on anyone else." This philosophy guided him throughout his life and influenced his children and many others who had the privilege of knowing him.

Although he left school at an early age to help his mother raise and support their family, Chinto valued having an education. He later achieved his GED, a proud accomplishment that underscored his belief in the value of education. He often cited being able to help raise his siblings and obtaining his high school diploma as some of his proudest moments.

Chinto's personality was as vibrant as his interests. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was known for his generosity and attentiveness to the needs of family and friends. His wonderful sense of humor brought joy to many gatherings. He especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys football games, Fishing, BBQing and cooking. A cherished family favorite was his delicious breakfast featuring homemade chile/picante. In his leisure time, Chinto found pleasure in listening to classic rock music and celebrating important milestones with his family, such as graduations and birthdays, emphasizing the unity and love within his family.

Chinto is preceded in death by his father, Jacinto Lucio, Sr.; his stepson, Mark Mungia; and his uncle, Joe Basaldua.

Chinto is survived by the love of his life and wife of 34 years, Melinda Lucio; his mother, Rosa Lucio; his children, who were his pride and fulfillment, Frank (Stacy) Garcia, Ashley Lucio, Teri (Freddy) Martinez, Jacinto (Amanda) Lucio, III, and Isaiah Lucio; his siblings Gracie (Roman) Buentello, Corina (Eugene) Persinger, Rosalinda Lucio, Arnoldo "Nono" Lucio, Suzanna (Alex) Davila, Ramiro (Rosamaria) Lucio, and Roberto Lucio; his sixteen grandchildren who he adored and were the joys of his life; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He will truly be missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved this extraordinary man.

Chinto’s family will receive condolence at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, with a prayer service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude at the Chapel that afternoon.
