Jacinto "Jay" Rios Soliz, affectionately known as Jay, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, in his hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on July 29, 1940, to Alfonso and Modesta Soliz, Jay was a beloved figure in his community, known for his skilled hands and warm heart. Jay was a master of his craft, working as an exceptional carpenter and mechanic throughout his life. His work was not just a job, but a passion, and he took great pride in the structures he built and the machines he repaired. His dedication to his craft was evident in the quality of his work and the respect he garnered from his peers. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jay was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. He was happily married to his wife, Maria Guadalupe Soliz, for 54 years. Their love story was one of deep commitment and mutual respect, setting an example for their children and grandchildren. Jay had a zest for life, which was evident in his love for gambling. He found joy in playing slot machines and scratch tickets, always hopeful for the next big win. Jay also loved the outdoors. He could often be found sitting outside, enjoying the tranquility of nature. His presence was a comforting fixture in the neighborhood, and his warm, welcoming personality made him a friend to all who knew him. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Modesta Soliz, and his siblings, Ramon Amparan, Eulalio Soliz, Emma Cantu, Vicenta Gonzales, Avilio Soliz, Victoria Villarreal, Roberto Soliz, and Lee Soliz. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Guadalupe Soliz; his sons, Jefferey Jay Soliz and Mel Soliz (Sandra); his grandchildren, Daylinn Soliz, Gabriel Garcia, Adrian Garcia, and Ryanna R. Soliz; and his great-grandchildren, Eristin Tellez and Ezryn Tellez. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Frank Chavez, and his sisters-in-law, Mary Ramirez and Lupita Chavez. Jay's life was a testament to his strength, perseverance, and love for his family. He was a pillar of his community, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy is not just in the buildings he constructed or the machines he fixed, but in the love and respect he instilled in his family and the friendships he formed throughout his life. Jay will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
