Janie G. Salinas

Janie G. Salinas passed away on June 1, 2021 at the age of 80.  She was born in Realitos, Texas on June 24, 1940 to Juan and Lilia (Vela) Gutierrez.  She was the matriarch of her family.  She led by example with style and grace. Janie will be forever in our hearts as a flawless, timeless, and a savvy businesswoman.  Janie Salinas was a pillar of strength for our family, an inspiration, and advocate for female empowerment.  She enjoyed fashion and beauty design, art, music, casinos, and business ventures; as well as, spending time with her friends and family. She never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all whom knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Abel Salinas, Jr.; parents, Juan and Lilia (Vela) Gutierrez; and brother, Hector Gutierrez.

Janie is survived by her children, Anna Lilia Salinas and Laura (Juan) Leones; grandchildren, Edward Joseph Saenz and Dillion J. Angle; brothers, Javier Gutierrez, Felix Gutierrez, and Alvaro Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Carmen Gutierrez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St, Alice, Texas; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM.  A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:00 AM Friday, June 4, 2021, to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 AM.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
