Jerry Garza, a man of honor, dedication, and boundless enthusiasm, passed away on September 7, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on March 16, 1966, Jerry's life was a testament to his strong will, his love for his family, and his passion for the outdoors. Jerry proudly graduated from Victoria Stroman High School in 1984, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1989, a period that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, Jerry furthered his education at Del Mar College where he studied auto mechanics, a field that would become both his vocation and his hobby. For many years Jerry worked diligently at the C.C. State School and the Corpus Christi Base, where his colleagues knew him as a reliable and skilled worker. His dedication to his job was matched only by his commitment to his family and his love for the simple pleasures in life. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry found peace and joy in hunting and fishing. He had a unique talent for making his own bullets, a meticulous craft that reflected his attention to detail. Jerry also had a passion for working on his cars, a skill he honed over many years as a gifted mechanic. His hands were rarely clean, but his heart was always full, especially when sharing his interests with friends and family. Jerry was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved cheering on his favorite team. Jerry's legacy is carried on by his beloved daughter, Crystal Garza, and her husband, Ezequiel Olmos; his cherished granddaughter, Brianna Olmos, and his devoted brother, Narciso Garza Jr. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and his ever-present smile. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Narciso Garza and Genoveva Cantu, who instilled in him the values of hard work and family unity. The family takes comfort in knowing that Jerry's life was rich with experiences and love. His stories, often told with a twinkle in his eye and a hearty laugh, will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to hear them. Jerry's final journey will be accompanied by those he loved and respected. Serving as pallbearers are Narcisco Garza Jr., Isaac Garza, Randy Garcia, Ezequiel Olmos, Brian Moore, Roger Duenes, Beary Messer, and Ray Contreras. Each of them will carry a piece of Jerry's spirit with them as they fulfill this last service for their friend and family member. Jerry’s family will receive condolences on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave, from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM; a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:30 PM that afternoon.
