Jesus Vela Jr., born on June 2, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully in his hometown on January 31, 2025. A beloved son, brother, and cherished member of his extended family, Jesus' warm presence and joyful spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Jesus was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, where he was known for his love of simple pleasures and his devotion to his family. He is survived by his adoring mother, Josefina Vela, with whom he shared a special bond and countless cherished moments. His brother, George Vela, will fondly remember the times they spent together filled with laughter and camaraderie. Jesus was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Vela Sr., with whom he now rests. Throughout his life, Jesus found joy in the comfort of watching television, a pastime that allowed him to relax and unwind. His favorite food, a classic ham and cheese sandwich, was a testament to his appreciation for the simple things in life. Jesus' love for Mexican music was well-known, and he could often be found enjoying a few beers while singing along to his favorite tunes. These moments of music and merriment were among his most treasured times. Jesus' passion for life was evident in the way he cherished his relationships with his family and friends. He was a constant source of support and love, always ready to share a laugh or lend a listening ear. His presence was a comfort to those around him, and his ability to bring joy to everyday moments was a gift to all who had the pleasure of his company. As we bid farewell to Jesus Vela Jr., we celebrate a life lived with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will continue to inspire us to find happiness in life's simple pleasures. Jesus' legacy is one of love and it is with love that we remember him.

Jesus’ family will receive condolences on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The chapel will open at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and a Chapel Service will begin at 11:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
