Our larger than life father, Joe Jerry Almaguer, 67, who could put a smile on anyone’s face and make you laugh till you were in tears, has ended his earthly journey. He joins his parents, Joe C. and Sofia P. Almaguer and our precious Lord who welcomes him with open arms.
He was born October 11, 1949 and passed away April 6, 2017. In his younger years, he worked side by side with his father for the CC Caller Times and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6174. Throughout his life and up until his death, he helped and sheltered all that he most possibly could…such a forgiving and huge heart he had. He loved barbecuing, traveling with his wife and kids at the spur of the moment, listening to oldies and telling the craziest jokes you could ever hear or imagine!
He didn’t allow any holiday to pass without gathering his family. His most favorite being Easter…oh how he will be missed this Easter Sunday!
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debbie Almaguer; mother of his three oldest children, Olga Luna Almaguer; children, Brinda (Anthony) Garcia, Charles (Mary) Almaguer, Christopher (Letty) Almaguer, and Chasity (Gilbert) Sierra,
Jerry (Baby Huey) is also survived by his siblings, Penny (Joe) Martinez, Darlene Grace Gallimore, Jeff Almaguer, Gina Almaguer, Michelle (Mike) Aguas, and Jay Albert Almaguer. 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, ever-so-loving Aunts and Uncles, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and many, many close friends.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be Charles Almaguer, Christopher Almaguer, Jeff Almaguer, Christian Tagle, Anthony Garcia, Dino Castillo, Ernest Almaguer, and Spencer Almaguer. Honorary pallbearers are Jay Almaguer, Landon Almaguer, Chance Almaguer, Chris J. Almaguer, Julian Almaguer, Jonah Tagle, Omar Sierra, Joey Castillo and Kevin Gordon.
Visitation will be held from 5pm-9pm on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave, with a holy rosary to be recited at 7pm that evening. Rites of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
We continue to ask for prayers for his wife, kids, family and an outpouring of prayers for him as he begins his journey to eternal life.
The family wishes to thank all who gave of their time, love, support and sent prayers to our Father, Big Brother, Grandfather, Uncle, and Brother-in-law.
