Joe Pete Martinez, Sr., a beloved member of the Corpus Christi community, passed away on August 10, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on November 17, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Joe was a dedicated individual whose life was marked by his unwavering faith, charming personality, and love for family.
Joe graduated from Roy Miller High School, where he excelled in track and field and football. His passion for sports was matched by his love for fashion; he was known as a fashionista, always dressing to impress and bringing his unique style to any gathering. His charisma and charm drew people to him, making him a beloved figure among friends and family.
A devoted Christian, Joe found joy and solace in his faith, often attending church services that enriched his spiritual life. He cherished the simplicity of spending time with loved ones, finding happiness in sharing moments with his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was particularly fond of playing Bingo, where his competitive spirit shone brightly, further showcasing his lively and engaging character.
Joe is survived by his children, Joe Martinez, Jr., Erica Rocha (Randy), Veronica Martinez, and Sandy Alaniz (Angel); his cherished grandchildren, Madelyn Martinez, Branden Rocha, Caden Rocha, Alexxavier Alaniz, Andrew Alaniz, Adrianna Alaniz, Arabella Alaniz, and Adelynn Alaniz; and his siblings, Linda Martinez Herrera, Daniel Martinez, Norma Martinez Garduno (Juan), Delia Martinez Davis (Jerry), Lorenzo Martinez, Sr. (Lydia), and Priscilla Martinez Vasquez (Carlos). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Martinez and Dominga P. Gonzales, and his brother-in-law, Manuel Herrera, Jr. His legacy of love, faith, and charm will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to experience his warmth and light.
Joe’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; with Celebration of Life to be begin at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 11:30 AM.
