Joe Robert Samora passed away on July 7, 2020 at the age of 77. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a licensed plumber for many years, was a hard-working family man with a big heart, and was known for his sarcasm. Joe enjoyed coaching little league baseball for most of his children and grandchildren and loved being out at the ballpark. He will be deeply missed by all whom knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by sons, Joe R. Samora, Jacob R. Samora, and Joshua R. Samora; daughter, Mary J. Samora; parents, Isabel Samora Sr., and Consuelo Falcon Samora; brothers, Lauriano “Blue” Samora and Isabel F. Samora, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Ellen Rodriguez and Rosa Mireles.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary J. Samora; daughters, Maricela Samora and Michelle A. (Alex Alaniz) Samora; sons, Christopher Martinez and Jacob Samora; brothers, Fred (Cindy) Samora of Montevideo, MN, Frankie Samora of Houston, TX, Rudy (Heidi) Samora of Rockport, TX, and Robert Samora of Houston, TX; sisters, Cora Solis of Rockport, TX, and “Tita” (Arnulfo) Rendon of Corpus Christi, TX; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 5 PM to 9 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6 PM. A Chapel Service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 9:30 AM at Treviño Funeral Home. A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 AM to Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery for Rite of Committal with Military Honors at 11 AM.
Honoring him as pallbearers are Alex Alaniz, Jacob Samora, Michael Hernandez, Mark Hernandez, Ashley Espino, and Marisol Coleman
Trevino Funeral Home requires anyone attending funeral services wear a face mask due to the current pandemic.
