Joe Vasquez

Jose “Joe” Acuna Vasquez, 91, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was born September 16, 1930, in McFadden, Texas to Mr. Andres Vasquez and Rosa Acuna Vasquez.

Joe was happily married to his beloved Margarita Vasquez for 60 years and was a devoted father. He dedicated is life to working for Falstaff Beer Distributor and CCISD, which he retired from both. “Papa Joe,” the name his grandchildren would call him, was a loving man who loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus during Christmas time. Papa Joe was well known for his love of barbequing, family gatherings, volunteering as Santa for the Fire Department’s Christmas event, and cooking for family Quinceaneras.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Margarita Vasquez; son, Jose Vasquez Jr.; and grandson, Ruben Vasquez Jr. He is survived by his children, Ruben (Patricia), Braulio (Esmeralda), Noelia Rodriguez, Noe (Gilda), and Steve; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, April 4, 2022, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port Ave from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2513 Nogales St, with Rite of Comittal and Interment following at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St.

Those with the honor of being a pallbearer are as follows: Jeremy Vasquez, Andre Vasquez, Brain Vasquez, Brandon Vasquez, Alex Lopez, and Noe Vasquez.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
