José Alfredo Chavarria, better known to friends and loved ones as Freddy, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the age of 55. He took his final breath at his home in Corpus Christi, surrounded by those who loved him the most.
A native of Corpus, Freddy earned a culinary arts and business management degree from Del Mar College. This was a natural fit for Freddy as he would spend his life feeding and caring for the people he loved.
Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, Freddy was quickly called home to be with his mother Minerva Chavarria and father Manuel Chavarria.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Teresa; daughters, Samantha (Matthew), and Minerva; siblings, John Chavarria (Helen), Rose Chavarria, Manuel Chavarria Jr. (Amy), Minerva Reyna (Julio), Barbara Keener (Carl), Michael Chavarria (Dorothy), Deborah Monroe (RJ); his 5 grandchildren, Atticus, Loki, Scarlett, Elias, and Avery; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces who will all miss his humor and generosity.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port., with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The funeral cortege will depart the chapel at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
