Jose Luis Marquez passed peacefully into eternal life on June 21, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family. Jose was born on December 23, 1955, in Alice, Texas, and lived a life dedicated to his family, his country, and the community he cherished.
He graduated with the class of 1973 from Lorain High School in Lorain, Ohio, and furthered his education at the University of Texas where he received his associate’s degree in applied science. He was self-employed and the owner of Gemini Mobile Home Repair Services, Delia’s Shaved Ice Snow Cones, and also was a sports photographer for Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Schools.
Jose was hardworking, generous, honest, respectful, punctual, intelligent, and loving. He was a jack of all trades and was always in control and had a great sense of humor. He worked as a Security Manager for Loss Prevention at K-Mart and Venture Stores. He was also a salesman for Bradford’s in Alice and Clayton Homes.

His time in the military was a defining chapter, reflecting his steadfast values and sense of duty.
Jose enjoyed life’s simple pleasures like riding his gold Harley-Davis motorcycle with the members of the Gypsy Club, helping the Shiners in assisting children. He especially enjoyed watching the TV shows like Blue Blood, Heartland, or any action movies with actors like Steven Seagal. He also enjoyed listening to oldies, Tejano music, and corridos. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and love for family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him.
Jose is survived by his love at first sight, devoted loving wife of 33 years, Delia Vargas Marquez; his precious daughter, Erika and her husband, Casey Deriso who he loved like a son; his xxpecting granddaughter, Xochitl Karina Marquez-Deriso; brother, Mario (Rosemary) Marquez; mother-in-law, Genoveva Vargas; brother-in-law, Jose (Virginia) Vargas; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
