Jose Felix "Joey" Obregon

Jose Felix “Joey” Obregon passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, in his hometown of Corpus Christi, TX, where he first brought joy into the world on November 5, 1986. His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of many, but his vibrant spirit and the memories he created will forever be cherished. Jose's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the infectious nature of joy. His smile was known to light up any room, and his sense of humor was a source of constant laughter among his friends and family. Jose lived his life with an unparalleled zest, embracing every moment with open arms and a playful spirit that earned him the reputation of being the life of the party. For over 15 years, Jose honed his craft as a skilled barber, a profession through which he not only showcased his artistic talents, but also cultivated countless friendships. His chair was more than a place for a haircut; it was a hub of camaraderie and good cheer. Jose's love for Crown Royal was well-known, and his ability to be the heart and soul of any gathering was unmatched. He was indeed a party animal, but it was his generosity and love for his family that truly defined him. Jose's devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He cherished spending time with his mother, Lydia Mills, who survives him, along with his brother, David (Rhonda) Holt, and sister, Bianca Esquivel. His grandmother, Amelia Cavazos, along with his adored nieces and nephews—Daymond (Adrianna) Holt, Aaron Alaniz, Makayla Lopez, and Dominic Lopez—and great-niece, Alaia Holt, will miss his playful antics and unwavering support. His presence was a blessing to his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who found in him a generous soul always ready to help in times of need. Jose was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose and Carmen Silva; his paternal grandfather, Juan Cavazos; his father, Eduardo Obregon; and his stepfather, Billy Joe Mills. They have now welcomed him into eternal rest, where stories of his earthly adventures will surely bring smiles to the heavens. Beyond his family, Jose's passions were as vibrant as his personality. He was a self-proclaimed ladies' man, always ready with a joke or a compliment. His love for music videos was only matched by his love for desserts, a sweet tooth he indulged at every opportunity. To his nieces and nephews, he was not just an uncle but a mentor, a confidant, and the best playmate they could ever wish for. Jose's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the enduring power of a generous spirit. His absence will be deeply felt at family gatherings, in the buzz of his barber shop, and in every heart he touched. Yet, those who knew him understand that his spirit will continue to inspire joy and kindness in the lives of all he encountered.
