Jose Oscar Sanchez Jr

Jose Oscar Sanchez Jr., a faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 36 in Alice, Texas. Born on March 23, 1988, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Jose, also affectionately known as Joe, Brother Joe, and his favorite being Uncle Show, was a beacon of light and a source of unwavering faith to all who knew him.

Joe was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Elva Garza; paternal grandfather, Juan Sanchez Sr.; and paternal great-grandparents, Oscar and Maria Garza.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, carried on by his parents, Jose and San Juanita Sanchez; his cherished son, Troy Rodriguez; his sister, Melissa Jo (Federico) Gomez; and his adoring nieces and nephews, Kaylie, Angelica, Melanie, Arianna, Federico Jr., and Austin Gomez.

A proud graduate of Alice High School, Joe's youthful enthusiasm for sports, particularly basketball, was evident throughout his school years. His love for the game was paralleled only by his dedication to his faith. After graduation, Joe entered the workforce, initially joining various oilfield companies. However, it was not long before he discovered his true calling in faith and ministry. Joe dedicated his life to God, spreading the Good News with fervor and conviction. Whether in church, a store, a hospital, or on the street, Joe was moved by the Spirit to stop and pray for all those in need.

He served as a youth pastor at several local churches, passionately ministering to children and guiding them towards Christ, Our Lord. His unwavering faith and dedication to spreading the Word touched many lives, offering solace to countless souls, and his inspiring testimony will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Beyond his ministerial work, Joe's life was filled with joy through sports. An ardent fan of the 49ers, he never missed a game and took great pleasure in cheering on his favorite team. Yet, nothing compared to the time he spent playing and laughing with his son, Troy. These precious moments were also extended to his beloved nieces and nephews, with whom he loved to share in play and fellowship. Those who knew Joe would describe him as thoughtful, faith-filled, and selfless. His actions were a testament to these words, as he consistently placed the needs of others before his own, always ready to offer a helping hand, a prayer, or a word of encouragement.

As we bid farewell to Jose Oscar Sanchez Jr., we celebrate a life that, although too short, was lived with immense purpose and love. His spirit, characterized by generosity and deep faith, will continue to inspire and guide us. We take comfort in knowing that Joe's legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.

Honoring Joe as pallbearers are Troy Rodriguez, Dominick Rodriguez, Federico Gomez, Jon Michael Garcia, Justin Sanchez, Jaime Ramirez, Jesus Ramirez, and David Kohler.
