Jose P. Rivera

Jose P. Rivera passed away on October 8, 2018 at the age of 68. He enjoyed watching cowboy movies, visiting casinos and spending time with his family and his best friend Big E. Jose worked at the Mattress Firm for 21 years and considered his co-workers his “work family”. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all whom knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijio and Maria Rivera; sisters, Susie Tapia, Mary Reyes, and Maria Ramona Avalos; brother, Elijio Rivera, Jr.

Jose is survived by his children, Jose (Melanie) Rivera, Jr., Virginia Ann (Jerry) Flores, Robert (Gloria) Rivera, and Liza Rivera; grandchildren, Marissa Isabel Rivera, David Jose Rivera, Miranda Lee Flores, Marina Lyn Flores, Samuel Roberto Rivera, Benito Antonio Muniz, M’Aly Anne Rodriguez, Jordan Torrie Rodriguez, and Gina Marie Benavides; sister, Esther Ruiz; brothers, Eddie Rivera and Gregorio Rivera; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 11:30 am at Trevino Funeral Home. Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
