Josefa Vasquez Hinojosa

Josefa V. Hinojosa passed away on May 22, 2022, at the age of 91, with her daughters by her bedside. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,  great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Josefa was born on March 19, 1931, to Ceferino and Isabel Vasquez. She loved to go to casinos and play slot machines. Josefa also enjoyed playing Chalupa and lotto tickets. She enjoyed watching her favorite novelas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ceferino and Isabel Vasquez; her husband, Angel A. Hinojosa Sr.; and two sons, Juan J. Hinojosa and Angel Hinojosa, Jr.

Left behind to cherish Josefa’s memories are her five daughters, Maria Shipp, Elma (Luis) Garcia, Lesvia (Leroy) Garza, Daisy Castillo, and Sandra (Danny) Cruz, all from Alice, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Trevino Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 12:30 PM. A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 1:30 PM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 2:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at New Collins Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Lara, Robert J. Lopez, Lupe Cardona, Leroy Garza, Mike Paiz, and Chris Acero. Honorary pallbearer will be Mark Garcia.

Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
