Josephine A. Valerio

Josephine A. Valerio, the daughter of the late mister and missus Fernando and Maria De La Rosa Senior, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on October 2, 1947, in North Dakota, Josephine lived a life defined by kindness and dedication to her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Maria De La Rosa; and sisters, Maria Martinez and Eloisa D. (Don) Pitcher.

Josephine was the cherished sister to Fernando De La Rosa, Jr., Benito (Patsy) De La Rosa, Margarita (Tim) Lietzke, Irene (Arthur) Olivares, and Minerva (Robert) Recio. As part of a close-knit family, Josephine’s life was filled with love and shared experiences that only siblings can understand. The bond she shared with her siblings was unbreakable and their memories together will forever be cherished. As a devoted mother, she was always there for her daughters, Valerie M. Valerio and Toni Jo Lopez. Her love for her children was evident in her daily actions, as she always put their needs before hers. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering love have been a source of inspiration for her daughters. Her legacy will continue to live on through them. A doting grandmother, Josephine adored her grandchildren, Angela Ruiz, Jose Ruiz, Stephanie Ruiz, John Ruiz, Jacob Curry, and Britney Curry. She cherished every moment spent with them and loved watching them grow. She was also blessed with extended family members, Antonio Lopez, Jr., Ruby (Frank) Riojas, Andy Lopez, and Randy (Melissa) Lopez, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The pall bearers will be Jacob Curry, Jose Ruiz, Robert Recio, Jr., Ramon Recio, Richard Recio, Adan De La Rosa, and Ruben Recio.

Josephine had a passion for crochet, puzzles, and word puzzles. She found joy in the simple things and took great pleasure in these hobbies. However, her greatest joy was always spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. As we remember her, let us celebrate her life and the love she shared with us all. Her memory will forever be a beacon of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
