Juan V. Morales

Juan V. Morales, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the age of 97. He was born a humble and simple man on March 9, 1918 in Rosenberg, Texas; then later moved to the Valley to follow the fruit crop season. There he met the love of his life, and wife for over 73 years, Maria Fernandez from Mercedes, Texas. Juan served his country in the US Army; WWII called him on March 1942. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater in the Philippine Liberation campaign. He moved his family to Corpus Christi where he went to work for the Naval Air Station as an Aircraft Mechanic, later working as an auto mechanic in the private sector. Baseball and fishing were among his pleasures, he will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria F. Morales; sister, Teresa Martinez; son-in-law, Ken Rust. Juan leaves behind his loving children, Margaret (Mike) Ross, Juan "Dino" (Maria) Morales Jr., Ray Morales, Mary Lou Rust, Teresa Martinez, Gloria (Gus) Galbodon, Ralph Morales, Linda (Raymond) Cantu, Paul (Velma) Morales; sister, Juanita Franz, 19 grandchildren, and numerous great, and great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara at Port starting at 7 am, on Thursday, October 29, 2015. A funeral chapel service will be held at 9:30 am, that same morning. Burial will follow at 11 am at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
