Juan Jose Villarreal, Sr.

Juan Jose Villarreal Sr. (Johnny), a family hero, military veteran, and retired letter carrier, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, with his family by his side. Born in Laredo, Texas, Johnny proudly served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home he dedicated his life to his family and worked as a letter carrier in Corpus Christi, TX. Johnny also represented his fellow letter carriers as Vice President and then President of the Postal Union. Johnny carried himself with much pride not only in his appearance, but also in his upbringing, culture, accomplishments, and overall demeanor. He was a hard-working man who always put his family first. He was a man of faith, strength, courage, and patience. Johnny was dedicated to his career and was a very loyal friend, leader, and role model who often provided the most sound advice. He will be deeply missed, forever respected, and remembered by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo L. Villarreal and Alicia E. Villarreal. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cecilia Villarreal, five children: Josie (Rick) Sellers, Barbara (Rene) Villalpando, Juan J. “Lil’ Johnny” (Kate) Villarreal Jr., Verna Medina, Vera (Robert) Rangel, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings Rodolfo L. (Irma) Villarreal Jr., Luis M. (Berta) Villarreal, Maria Teresa Villarreal, Roberto J. Villarreal, Reynaldo J. Villarreal, and Maria Elena V. (Carlos) Gutierrez. Pallbearers will be Johnny Villarreal Jr., Jacob Sellers, Joseph Lopez, Alex Bustamante, Louie Villarreal Jr., and Rudy Villarreal. A graveside service will be held on December 13th, promptly, at 2 pm at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetary at 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.
