Juanita C. Lopez, born on June 24, 1942, in Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. A cherished member of her community, Juanita will be remembered for her deep faith and her generous spirit, which she devoted to her family, friends, and church.
Juanita's life was a tapestry of enriching experiences and interests. She embraced her passion for cooking, singing, and playing guitar, which she shared joyously with those around her. Additionally, she found fulfillment in crocheting and painting, often displaying her artistic talents to bring warmth and beauty into the lives of her loved ones. Her commitment to missionary work exemplified her devotion to helping others, embodying the qualities of compassion and love that defined her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Juan Lopez, and an extensive and loving family that includes her children, Cynthia (Bobby), Sandra (Robert), Johnny (Kathy), Moises (Lisa), Norma (Alex), and Julie (Horacio). Juanita’s heart expanded further with the addition of her stepchildren, Lucy, Leann, and Edward (Jennifer), all of whom she adored. The legacy of her nurturing spirit will carry on through her 45 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom holds a unique place in her heart.
Juanita’s life was also shaped by her siblings, who provided her with lifelong bonds and cherished memories. She leaves behind her sisters, Maria Elena (Reyes), Maria Faustina, and her brothers, Moises (Lucy) and Nasario.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Julia and Moises Leyba; her four children, Joe, Josie, Maryann, and Michael; along with her sister, Maria Carmen. They are embraced in her loving memory as she reunites with them in eternal peace.
A visitation will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St @ Port Ave, accompanied by a Rosary service at 7:00 PM. The following day, Tuesday, November 11, a Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, beginning at 1:00 PM. Juanita will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Park at 2:30 PM, where she will find her eternal rest.
As we celebrate the life and legacy of Juanita C. Lopez, we are reminded of the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her, her unwavering faith, and her dedication to family and community. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
