Juanita Irma Perez

Juanita Irma Perez, lovingly known as "Wela," passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on June 23, 2025, at the age of 85 in Manvel, Texas. Born on May 13, 1940, in Realitos, Texas, she dedicated her life to her family and made a positive impact on everyone she met.

Throughout her career, Juanita worked tirelessly as a provider, housekeeper, and custodian for the Parker Family and Mechanic Service for many years. Despite only having elementary education herself, she was a strong advocate for the importance of education, encouraging and supporting her children and grandchildren in their academic pursuits.

Juanita's personality was rich with love, kindness, and generosity. She was known for her exceptional cooking skills, welcoming visitors with a warm cup of coffee and delicious homemade tortillas. Her specialty dishes, including Menudo and Caldo, were cherished by family and friends alike. Juanita’s unwavering faith was evident in her daily actions and kind deeds, providing a guiding light for her loved ones.

Family unity was pivotal in Juanita's life. She cherished the moments spent celebrating holidays, especially during Christmas seeing the excitement in the children opening their Christmas gifts, and on Easter Sunday when her grandkids could revel in the joy of an elaborate Easter egg hunt.

Juanita was not only devoted to her family but also had vibrant interests that brought her immense joy. She had a deep love for dancing to good old Tejano music, often singing along with the tunes that filled her home. Gardening was another passion; she enjoyed planting vegetables, including calabazas, tomatoes, and chile pequin, alongside her cherished orange tree. A true traveler at heart, Juanita relished the opportunity to hit the road and visit family and friends.

Juanta’s legacy will live on through her children, Amanda (Carlos) Carrillo and Augustine (Dalinda) Perez, Sr.; as well as through those who called her “Wela”, they were the love, light, and joys of her life, her grandchildren: Desiree Carrillo, Demi Carrillo, Christopher (Skyler) Ramirez, Augustine Perez Jr., Juan Carlos (Bridget) Perez, Adrain (Criselda) Perez, and Miracle Perez; along with her 13 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Juanita Irma Perez leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family, which will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known and love her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 17 years, Sabas Perez Jr.; her parents, Esteban and Lilia Mungia; and her siblings, Rogelio Mungia, Antonio Mungia, Esteban Mungia, Agustin Mungia, Martin Mungia, Manuela Vela, Consuelo Valdez, Elida Olivares; along with her infant daughter, Olga Perez.
