Juanita Orta Rodriguez

Juanita Orta Rodriguez, age 84, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, peacefully in her home. She was born on May 29, 1930 in Robstown, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gilberto M. Rodriguez; parents, Geronimo and Elvira Mercado Orta; brother, Lalo Orta; aunt/stepmother Epimenia Orta; sisters: Andrea Orta, Zulema Ortiz, Elida Castillo, Adelfa Medina, and Emma Rodriguez; and son-in-law, James E. Hughes. She is survived by one son, Gilberto (Janie) Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX; three daughters: Esmeralda Rodriguez of Little Rock, AK, Consuelo Hughes of Alice, TX, and Evangelina (Rudy) Silva of Alice, TX; grandchildren: Melissa Nelson, Patricia Garcia, Monica Soto, Vanessa Prado, Amador Garcia, Jr., Gilberto Rodriguez III, Rudy Silva III, Victoria Segovia, Romeo Silva, and Marco Silva; and great-grandchildren: Austin Nelson, Evan Nelson, Alejandro Sanchez, Carina Sanchez, Lucas Garcia, Emma Garcia, Amaris Garcia, Phaecia Garcia, R.J. Prado, Portia Segovia, Kristopher Mendiola, Matthew Mendiola, Jose Armando Soto, Andrew Silva, and Joey Silva. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., Alice, TX; with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Alice Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bobby Treviño.
