Juventino M. Ortiz Jr, (Bob to his friends) age 75, was called by Our Lord to His Heavenly home on Sunday, May 9, 2021, after a short illness. He was born on February 4, 1946 to Juventino M. Ortiz Sr and Eva Martinez Ortiz in Corpus Christi, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, TX. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and fought in the Vietnam War. Juventino then returned to Corpus Christi and was a truck driver for J. I. Hailey, Inc from 1974 until 1988; he then made a career change and began working for CCISD Transportation Department until his retirement in 2008. He loved getting together with friends and the Dallas Cowboys. He (and Olga), in his younger days, became friends with and followed Ramon Ayala and his band all over Texas and Mexico! Juventino also loved “scratch off” Lotto! We have many memories and will fondly remember our husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend! We know he is in the presence of God and look forward to the day when we can join him!
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jane Ortiz; parents; his mother-in-law, Dominga G. Soliz; and several brothers and sisters (from his biological family).
Among those left to cherish his memory are his loving and caring wife of 47 years, Olga S Ortiz; children, Olda Lee Aleman (Abel) and Oscar D Longoria (Mary) of Portland, Juventino “Bobby” Ortiz III (Janis), Eva B Ortiz, and Diana Ortiz (all of Corpus Christi); brothers Rodolfo Salinas (Yolanda) and Ray Ortiz (Betty); sisters, Beatrice (the late Jose Inez) Magellan, Betty Salinas, and Ida Cuellar; a special friend, Jr Pena (who could always be counted on when needed); 18 grandchildren (Ariana and Airk Cantu who lived with him); 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild (expected in September 2021); and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many, many friends!
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Chapel Service will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at 9:30 AM at Treviño Funeral Home. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 AM to Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery for a Rite of Committal and Interment with full Military Honors.
