Lawrence Clifford Johnson was called to his resting place by our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the age of 73. He resided at The Palms Nursing Home. Lawrence was the loving husband of Herminia Hernandez Johnson and they were blessed to have shared 46 years of marriage. His wife and children were by his side when he peacefully passed away.
Born in Aransas Pass TX, he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Charles and Ruth Johnson. He was a graduate of Miller High School and a proud veteran who served and protected our country in Vietnam. He continued his service through the National Guard for 25 years. He was employed by CCAD at the Naval Air Station in Flour Bluff for 35 years until he retired in 2012. He lived a very blessed and comfortable life.
He was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was a longtime member of the De Colores Group. He enjoyed shooting darts, guns, bowling, archery, playing dominoes, and bingo with family members. He also enjoyed his Elvis music. He will be remembered for his unique humor, kind smile, and gentle heart. Lawrence was a good husband and provider for his children.
He was predeceased by his sister, Diana Texas Johnson.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Herminia Hernandez Johnson; three children, Thelma Johnson, Jamie Carroll Johnson (Paul), and James Johnson; six grandchildren, Danny Wade, Jewel Johnson, Jesse Wade, Mathew Johnson, Emily Wade, Madison Johnson and baby Joey; and his sister, Charlene Weaver (Kenneth). He was loved and respected by many and will be missed dearly.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port, from 5 PM to 9 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
