Ludivina "Ludy" Madrigal, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 21, 2025, in Alice, Texas. Born on February 17, 1951, Ludy embraced life with a spirit that resonated warmth and kindness, traits that many will remember her by.
For 25 years, Ludy dedicated her life to the noble profession of nursing, caring for countless individuals with compassion and expertise. Her commitment to her career was matched only by her passion for family, which formed the core of her being. Ludy was a proud mother to her beloved children, Dora (Manuel) Chavarria, Elva (Miguel Garcia) Chavez, Victor (Flor) Madrigal, Magda (Johnny) Resendez, Magaly "Maggie" (George) Cavazos, and Linda (Jason) Villarreal. Family gatherings were filled with her culinary magic, as she loved making tamales and menudo, sharing her recipes and traditions that will carry on through generations.
As a grandmother to 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Ludy’s love knew no bounds. Each of them carried pieces of her spirit, and they were her pride and joy. She delighted in nurturing relationships with each of them, always finding ways to spread affection and laughter. She is also survived by her sister, Maria De Jesus Peña, and her brothers, Enede Garza and Amalio (Cuate) Garza, who will forever remember and cherish their family memories.
Ludy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Victor Manuel Madrigal, Sr., whose absence she felt deeply. Together, they spent 30 years building and nurturing a family and a legacy of love.
In her leisure, Ludy found joy in a variety of pursuits. She enjoyed the thrill of gambling in Las Vegas, often recalling the excitement in her stories. A fond afternoon would find her relaxing on her porch, savoring a moment with Marlboro Lights Special Blend in hand and her phone close by, as she kept in touch with loved ones and shared in their lives.
As we celebrate Ludy's remarkable life, we remember her unwavering spirit, the love she bestowed upon her family, and the many lives she touched. Her legacy of care and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her.
Ludy’s family will receive condolences on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St., from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM followed by Liturgy of the Word. Ludy will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM at New Collins Cemetery. Her services will conclude that day.
