Luis Gilberto Garcia, Sr.

Luis Gilberto Garcia, Sr., born January 12, 1925 to Octavio and Herlinda Garcia in Benavides, TX, passed away December 15, 2017 at the age of 92. He served in WWII from 1943-1946 and was a former mechanic at CCAD. Luis was a loving husband, a generous man, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a very good friend to many.

Luis was preceded in death by his wife, Elena V. Garcia; son, Michael Edward Garcia; granddaughter, Kimberly Garcia; son-in-law, Robelin Martinez; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Survivors left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Herlinda C. Sembrano (Ovidio), Magda Martinez, and Umbelina Cantu (Ruben); sons, Luis G. Garcia, Jr. (Maria), Francisco Jaime Garcia (Bertha), and Joe Henry Garcia; grandchildren: Ovidio Sembrano, Jr., Michael Edward Sembrano, Melissa Godines, Robelin Martinez, Jr., Luis Alfredo Martinez, Jaime Javier Martinez, Luis G. Garcia, III, Laura Gabriela Reuter, Cynthia Ann Garcia, Angie Ramirez, Frank J. Garcia, Jr., Ruben Cantu, Jr., Linda Cantu; 26 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as Pall Bearers; Ovidio Sembrano, Jr., Robelin Martinez, Jr., Luis Alfredo Martinez, Jaime Javier Martinez, Luis G. Garcia, III, and Frank Garcia, Jr.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Treviño Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St., from 4 to 9 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral Cortége will depart the funeral home at 8:45 AM on Monday, December 18, 2017, to Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Benavides Cemetery.
