Luis Ignacio Godines

Luis Ignacio Godines of Austin, TX died on Sunday, March 31, 2019. He was 72.

Godines was a native of Alice, TX and had lived in Austin for the last 19 years. He took an early retirement from Exxon Corporation in 1993 to pursue a dream of building an Air Condition & Heating business. He worked in A/C & Heating for over 30 years. He took pride in being the best dad for his daughters. He loved coaching and supporting them in their activities and sports. He always took up the opportunity to BBQ or cook. He was always on top of his game when it came to watching and talking about the Cowboys and the Longhorns. He also never missed a chance to dance. He loved dancing and met so many friends on the dance floor. Luis was dearly loved and will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.

Luis is proceeded in death by his parents, Ignacio Godines and Beatriz Alegria Godines.

Among those left to cherish Luis’ memory are his loving daughters, Priscilla Godines, Patricia Tejada, Pamela Gagot, and Diedra Godines; sons, Terrance Gourdine, Romeo Chavez, Tulio Gagot, and Valentin Hernandez III; brother, Bobby (Crissy) Godines; sisters, Betty (Oscar) Perez, Beatrice Godines (Ricardo Alaniz), Belinda (Jesse) Garza, Marisa (Javier) Garza; three grandchildren, Joshua Ortiz “DJ”, Estella Ortiz, and Sophia Hernandez; former wife, Elma McGinnis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front St. Alice, TX. A holy rosary, a prayer service, and eulogy will follow at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with a mass of Christian burial at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Lunch will be served immediately after the services at Jim Wells County Fair Grounds, 3001 S. Johnson St. Bldg A Alice, TX 78332. One of Luis’ specialties will be served.
