Guadalupe (Lupe) Torres was born in Sugarland, Texas on April 30, 1931 and passed away peacefully on August 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In the early 1950's, he proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. During his lifetime Lupe worked at Briner Paint Co., as a pipe-fitter at Berry Fabricators, and retired from the City of Corpus Christi Waste-Water Division. During his retirement he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and edgers and managed to stay busy until his recent encounter with failing health.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adriana Torres; daughter, Imelda Cantu; granddaughter, Monica Barrera;
Father, Pete Torres, stepfather and mother, Eusebio Flores, Sr. & Juanita Flores; and brothers, Jesse Flores and Eusebio Flores Jr.
Lupe is survived by his loving and caring daughter, Almira Hayes; grandchildren, Amy Hernandez, Derrick Balderas, Trey Carrion, Julie Carrion, Brianna Gonzalez, and Dulce Cantu; four great-grandchildren, Seth, Maddison, Christian, and Mia; sister, Charlotte Narvaez (Alex) Narvaez, sisters-in-law; Elva Flores and Janie DelaCruz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. A Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Treviño Funeral Home. Christian Rite of Committal and military funeral honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Derrick Allan Balderas, Trey Carrion, Eddie Flores, Sergio Flores, Steven Gonzalez, and Amador Hernandez.
Face masks must be worn, and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
