Lydia Marie Ayala, age 29, of Corpus Christi, Texas, joined our Lord in Heaven on August 6, 2022. Lydia will always be remembered as a happy, compassionate, and considerate soul. She was full of life, love, and brought a smile to everyone’s face.
Lydia was a lifelong dancer and spent her youth perfecting techniques in jazz, tap, ballet, and twirling. Lydia’s other interest was drama and she competed in various competitions throughout her high school years. She grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated high school as an honor’s student from Incarnate Word Academy. Lydia then went on to achieve her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She was an exceptional student and graduated with the highest honor, Summa Cum Laude.
Lydia served as a Speech Language Pathologist for Corpus Christi Independent School District and empowered her students for seven years. She dedicated her life to working with disabled children and worked hard to help them overcome problems with communication and speech.
However, her proudest achievement was bringing her two beautiful children into the world. Lydia loved sharing pictures and videos of her life and her kids during play time. Whether it was playing dress up with Isabella, or building blocks with Jorge, every memory was full of laughter and smiles. She spent every moment being the best mom she could be.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rafael Ayala and Maria Lydia Ayala.
She is survived by her grandparents, Luis and Maria Mendiola; her parents, Carlos and Iris Ayala; sister, Jennifer (Roger) Rodriguez; her much adored children, Isabella and Jorge; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive close friends and family on Saturday, August 13, 2022, for a Holy Rosary at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, 1101 Bloomington St, at 11:00 AM. Mass will follow starting at 12:00 PM and services will conclude at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the Ayala family is asking that you consider making a donation to the Speech Language Pathology Organization to benefit the students such as the ones Lydia assisted.
In lieu of flowers, with the love and support from her co-workers from the CCISD Speech Therapy Department and Lydia’s family donations will be accepted so that children with speech disorders are provided with supplies they need. The gofundme page, has been made in honor of Lydia Marie Ayala.
