Manuel O. Lopez, a loving father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born in Portland, Texas, on December 23, 1944, Manuel was known for his wisdom, love, and incredible talent in the welding industry. Manuel was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Lopez; his parents, Pedro and Lydia Lopez; his children, Rosario Lazo, Robert Ramos, and Margaret Ramos; and his sister, Gloria Lopez. He is survived by his children, Manuel Lopez Jr., Richard Lopez, Jo Anna Lopez, Pete Lopez, Graciela Riojas, Diana Mack, and Edward Lopez; and his siblings, Felipe Lopez (Janie), Albert Lopez (Valerie), Victoria Acosta (Tony), Angelita Siffuentes, Ruben Lopez (Carmen), Vicente Lopez (Anna), Julian Lopez (Gracie), Maria Trevino (Andres), Esther Lopez, Patricia Solis (Jesse), and Petra Rodriguez. Manuel was a legend in the welding industry, with a career spanning over 50 years. He was a dedicated and passionate teacher at the Craft Training Center, where he was loved and respected by everyone. Manuel had a unique ability to inspire and motivate his students, always encouraging them to persevere and never give up. He would often say, "No one is going to fail my class," and he would go above and beyond to help his students succeed. In addition to his successful career, Manuel was an avid traveler, having explored the world as a welder and welding instructor. His love for adventure was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. Manuel was a skilled softball player and an accomplished pool shark. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, and hosting barbecues and fish fries with his family. His love for music and dancing brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. Manuel will be remembered as a loving, wise, and handy man who touched the lives of countless people throughout his life. His legacy will live on through the many lives he influenced, both personally and professionally. Rest in peace, Manuel O. Lopez. You will be dearly missed, but your memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
Manuel’s family will receive condolences on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave. from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday, June 19, 2023, for a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
