Margarita Serna Garcia

Margarita Serna Garcia, 86, of Alice, TX, entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2016. She was born in Laredo, TX on July 20, 1929 to Julian B. and Petra Serna. She enjoyed going to horse races, watching baseball games, playing bingo, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo Garcia; parents, Julian and Petra Serna; sister, Dora Cuellar; brothers, Serapio Serna, Sr., and Edwardo Serna; grandson, James Armando Salinas. Margarita is survived by her son, Paul (Gloria) Longoria; three daughters, Nancy (Armando) Salinas, Carmen G. Fuentes, Celia (Luis) Treviño of Alabama; sister, Ofelia (Eustorgio Jr.) Saenz; brothers, Julian (Zoveida) Serna of Ocala, Florida, Roberto (Gloria) Serna of Commack, New York, and Jesus (Aurora) Serna; nine grandchildren, Paul Longoria, Jr., Michelle Perez, Elizabeth Navarro, Celina Trevino, George Fuentes III, Rudy Fuentes, Crystal Fuentes, Rene Armando Salinas, and Rolando Armando Salinas; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces, and longtime best friend, Mary Vidaurri. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 1, 2016, from 4 to 9pm at Treviño Funeral Home Alice, 120 E. Front St.; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Rites of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 3:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Old Collins Cemetery. Services under the direction of Bobby Treviño.
