Maria Amparo Torrez

Maria Amparo Borrego Torrez passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 26, 2020. She was born August 5, 1926 in Berclair, Texas in 1926 to George Sr. and Mercedes Bazan Borrego.  Amparo worked at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in the surgical department for many years.  She loved to travel with her family and was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Torrez; son, Robert Torrez; granddaughter, Monica Marie Torrez; parents, George Sr. and Mercedes Bazan Borrego; brother, Oscar Borrego; and sister, Maria Guadalupe Borrego Tamayo.

Among those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Leticia (Ruben) Abrego; son, George Torrez; sister, Consuelo Chapa Maldonado; brother, George (Consuelo) Borrego; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and extended family.

The family will receive condolences on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Treviño Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara @ Port, from 5 to 9 PM; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 PM.  A Chapel Service will take place on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 10:30 AM at Treviño Funeral Home.  A Funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:00 AM to Rose Hill Cemetery for Rite of Committal and Interment at 11:30 AM.
