Maria Gloria Chavez

Maria Gloria Chavez entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 27, 2024.  Mom was born on February 9, 1945 in Corpus Christi, TX, to Marcelo and Mercedes Garza.  As a young girl, she helped grandma in supporting her siblings.

From her first marriage, she welcomed three sons.  Later mom met her husband of fifty-two years, and they welcomed a daughter, and they became a family of five.  She worked various jobs, but being a mom was her most important job.  She was strict, witty and had a great sense of humor, but beware if you made her mad! The doors to her home were always open to family and friends alike.  Her house was the Kool-Aid house.  Her unique whistle was our notice to get our booties home for her famous spaghetti dinner, or her stack of homemade flour tortillas with butter. She had an impact on people she helped, especially our friends.  She was a second mom to many in our family and friends.  She was the first with a soccer mom van, transporting us and our friends to where we needed to go.

Her favorite sport was baseball.  Go Astros!  She enjoyed doing her word puzzles, playing bingo, and watching episodes of Murder She Wrote, Perry Mason, and the Golden Girls.  She loved Paul Anka (Lay Your Head on My Shoulder) and her oldies and country music.  Mom was a very beloved grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a blessing to her.  She wanted to live to see her youngest grandson and great-grandchildren grow up to be adults.  Although her health deteriorated, she never lost her will to live or her sense of humor.  She is now our angel in Heaven.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Marcelo, Carolyn, Connie, and Jose.  Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Jesse; her sons, David Nau (Gracie), Chris Nau (Mari), Michael Nau, and daughter Gloria Chavez; her sister Rosie Perales; her grandchildren, David Nau, Jr (Dahlia), Erik Nau, Jessica Briggs (Nic), James Urrutia, Chris Nau, Jr, Magnus Nau, Rey DeLeon, and Jesyka Garza (Nathan); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.  The world has lost a sweet lady, but Heaven has gained an angel.  We will miss you dearly mom.  Until we meet again.  We love you forever and a day.
