Maria Z. Cortez

Our amazing mother, Maria Z. Cortez, went to rest with our Heavenly Father on Monday, June 5, 2023.

Maria was born in DaCosta, TX on March 5, 1934 to Ramon and Martina Padron Zamora.

In honoring her wishes, she will be cremated followed by a Memorial Service to be led by Team Jesus Ministry.

Maria was a humble person that was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. She was known for her homemade tortillas and feeding anyone that came home with her daughters after school. She was a mother/grandmother figure to any child that needed love, nurturing, or guidance. She enjoyed playing bingo, loteria, scratching off her lottery tickets, and family gatherings. She lived a life of faith in the Lord and loved her family and friends.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Martina Padron Zamora; brother, Tomas Zamora; sister, Romana Valadez; and great-grandson, Adrian Silva.

Cherishing her memories are her daughters, Sara L. Cortez, Irene (Larry) Flores, Diana (Carlos) Bueno, Rose (Carlos) Cortez, and Denise A. Cortez; her grandchildren, Larry (Teresa) Flores, Jr., Joe (Jackie) Cortez, Raul (Jessica) Cortez, Erika Flores, Harley (Jimmy) Cortez, Carlos Bueno, Jr. (CJ), Amanda Guzman, Alexis Flores, Noah Silva, Vinny Silva, and Roman Rios III; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ramon (Eva) Zamora; sister, Guadalupe Gallegos; and many nieces, nephews, and family members.

Maria’s family would like to thank Aadi Home Hospice, Nurse Melinda, CNA Carmen, and provider Jackie Vela for their love, compassion, and care shown to our mother.

Maria’s family will receive condolences on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St. @ Port Ave, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 PM and services will conclude in the chapel that evening.
