Maria Del Rosario Salazar, a loving and passionate soul, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on October 7, 1948, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Maria was a beacon of faith and joy, known for her infectious laughter and vibrant sense of humor. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Santiago Salazar and granddaughter, Morgan Lara; siblings, Jose Eusebio Sifuentes Lozano, Maria Guadalupe Sifuentes Lozano, Carlos Sifuentes Lozano, Rafael Sifuentes Lozano, Maria Concepcion Sifuentes Lozano, Maria Del Rosario Sifuentes Lozano.
Maria is survived by her daughters Janie Salazar (Paulino Duenas) and Rosemary Avery (Clifford Avery); son, Eugene Salazar; siblings, Arcadio Sifuentes Lozano, Gerardo Antonio Sifuentes Lozano, Martha Elba Sifuentes Lozano, Ana Maria Sifuentes Lozano, Cesar Alonso Sifuentes Lozano; grandchildren, Nataly Munoz, Giovanni Perez, Andrea Garcia, Jae Garcia, Roxanne Salazar, Marina Avery, Eugene Joseph Salazar, Eugene Anthony Salazar, Arkayla Salazar; great-grandchildren, Samia Aranda, Kai Lara, Memphis Lara, Symphony Garcia, Cyrus Brown and Riot Brown.
Maria's love for her birthplace was evident in her frequent visits to Monterrey, where she enjoyed immersing herself in the rich culture and scenic beauty of the city. She had an unrivaled passion for traditional Mexican cuisine, especially tamales, which she often made from scratch, delighting family and friends with her culinary skills. In addition to her culinary pursuits, Maria enjoyed playing bingo. She was a beloved face at local bingo halls, where she brought joy and laughter to the games she loved so much. Maria's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devout woman, whose faith guided her through life's ups and downs. Maria will be remembered for her boundless love and unwavering faith, her passionate spirit, and her infectious sense of humor. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the joy of laughter. She was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those she left behind.
Maria's family will receive condolences on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara St., Corpus Christi, Texas, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00 PM. Services will conclude that evening.
