Maria Christina Durham

Maria “Chris” Christina Durham went home to be with Jesus on August 11, 2021 at age 61.

Maria was born to Felipe Sr. and Yolanda Aranda on November 25, 1959 in Corpus Christi, Texas. As a child, she was quiet and well-behaved but loved to dance, sing in the choir, and go to the carnival with her sisters.

Maria met her husband, Richard Durham, in 1986 at a dance hall. They married on October 4, 1986 and went on to have three children together, Crystal, Joshua, and Jonathan. In 1990, Maria gave her life to Christ and became a born-again Christian.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Maria also loved singing with her husband, working in the cafeteria at Schanen Estates Elementary, volunteering at Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship Church, cooking and serving food for her family and community, traveling to San Antonio, and having picnics down by the bay. Throughout her life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with others.

Maria joins her father, Felipe Sr. in Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Richard Durham; her children, Crystal (Greg), Joshua (Brittany), and Jonathan; her grandchildren, Jaden and Aria; her sisters, Maryann and Graciela; her brothers, Felipe Jr. and Andres; her nieces, Mari, Elizabeth, Bianca, Stephanie, Miranda, and Cheyenne; and her nephews, Felipe III, Fabian, and Matthew.

Public visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Corpus Christi Christian Fellowship, 6602 S. Staples; followed by a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 AM. Rite of Committal and Interment will be held at 1:00 PM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
