Maria Elena Gonzalez

Maria Elena Gonzalez, born on November 30, 1938, in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in her beloved hometown. She was a devoted Catholic who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her through her deep faith, detailed storytelling, exceptional taste in home decor, and passion for novelas. Maria never married or had children, but she was a cherished presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Maria is survived by her loving nieces and family caregivers, Susie Garza (James) and Christina Smith (David); sister-in-law, Alicia Gonzalez; along with numerous other nieces and nephews who held her in high regard. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Ignacia Gonzalez, and her siblings, Enrique Gonzalez, Susana Perez, Consuelo Hinojosa, Alejandro P. Gonzalez, Juanita Humada, Samuel Gonzalez, and Sarita Gonzalez.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and CHRISTUS Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care during Maria's final days.

Maria’s family will receive condolences on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Treviño Funeral Home 3006 Niagara @ Port, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary and Liturgy of the Word to begin at 7:00 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, followed by the Rite of Committal and Inurnment at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
