Maria Osbelia Galvan, a loving and kind-hearted woman, was born on February 20, 1949, in Benavides, Texas. Throughout her life, she demonstrated an unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her work. On June 13, 2023, Maria passed away in Leander, Texas, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Criseldo and Feliciana Ochoa, and her husband, Humberto Galvan Jr.
Maria's journey began in the small town of Benavides, where she was raised in a close-knit family. Her siblings, Yolanda Ochoa, Irma Lopez (Reuben), Odelia Rodriguez (Joe), Criseldo Ochoa Jr., Cristobal Ochoa, and her predeceased brothers, Feleberto and Rolando Ochoa, played a significant role in shaping her into the compassionate and driven woman she would become. As a young girl, Maria's passion for learning and self-improvement led her to attend beauty school, where she honed her skills and cultivated her love for hairstyling.
Upon graduating, Maria embarked on a successful career as a hair stylist, working at Salon Techniques for many years. Her innate talent and dedication to her craft earned her a loyal clientele, who admired her not only for her skills but also for her warmth and kindness. Maria's commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family, which included her daughter, Sally Nunez (Albert); her son, Lonnie Galvan (Karen); and her beloved grandchildren, AJ Nunez, Isabella Nunez, Jacoby Nunez, Kennedy Galvan (Dusty Bernard, fiancé), Brianna Guererro (Eliseo), and Lauren Galvan.
Throughout her life, Maria made it a point to balance her professional pursuits with her personal interests and hobbies. When she was younger, she enjoyed bowling and volleyball, demonstrating her competitive spirit and love for physical activity. In her downtime, Maria found solace in playing Dominos, baking, and crocheting, activities that allowed her to express her creativity and unwind. Maria also enjoyed watching novelas on TV.
As we remember Maria Osbelia Galvan, let us celebrate the life she lived and the impact she had on those around her. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and her work. May her memory inspire us to live our lives with the same passion and commitment, always striving to be the best version of ourselves.
