Maria Josefina Rodriguez passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Maria, known to family and friends, as “Josie” or “Fina”, was born in Santa Monica, Coahilla, Mexico on April 10, 1944 to Bartolo Reyes and Petra Zendejas. She was married to Hilberto Rodriguez, the love of her life, for 46 years.
Josie earned her GED from Taft High School and later became a Certified Medication Technician and worked until she retired to care for her husband during his illness. For many years, Josie had a love for birds and dogs. She enjoyed speaking to the birds and teaching them words. She enjoyed travelling with her husband; visiting several countries in Europe and making new friends and becoming part of their families at each location.
Josie is preceded in death by her parents, Bartola Reyes and Petra Zendejas Reyes; her husband, Hilberto Rodriguez; her sister, Juanita; and her brothers, Bartolo Reyes, Jose Luis Reyes, and Juan Reyes.
Josie is survived by her son, Gilbert Santiago Rodriguez (Ines) of Lisbon, Portugal; her siblings, Mercedes Trejo (Pedro), Jesus Reyes (Ramona), Armando Reyes (Irene), Guadalupe Aguinaga (Hector), Ramon Reyes (Manuelita), Evangelina Villarreal (Antonio), and Petra Minerva Rocha (Jose Mario). She will be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family will receive condolences from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Trevino Funeral Home, 3006 Niagara Street, Corpus Christi, TX; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. led by Deacon Bill Boostrom. Funeral mass and final rites will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 646 McIntyre Ave, Taft, TX at 9:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Face masks must be worn and social distancing must be practiced while attending funeral services due to the current pandemic.
