Maria Elena Villarreal-Gonzales

Maria Elena Villarreal-Gonzales, age 80, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015. "Maria would like all to know her work is done. She received the most important call of all to go dance with the Lord. Our queen went peacefully with her family by her side. She married Angel Gonzales in 1953 and was treated like a queen for 62 years of her beautiful marriage. Angel keeping her happy allowed her to live her life as a strong, compassionate, considerate, funniest wife, mother, grandmother and sister in which the Lord blessed us with. She was happiest when she was doing for others. Whether it be knitting, a beautiful blanket for a loved one, or making pan de polvo cookies, or her famous tamales; it was all done with love and a smile. To have her love was proof enough that the Lord does exist, because she was one of his finest Angels here on earth. She will forever live in our hearts with the beautiful memories she has left us with." She leaves behind her loving husband, Angel M. Gonzales; daughters, Rose Mary Campos, Irene Martinez; sons, Joe Angel Gonzales, Fermine Gonzales, Tony Gonzales; sister, Rebecca Juarez, Amelia Tovar; brother, Manuel Villarreal, Antonio Villarreal Jr., Severiano Villarreal; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends at Trevino Funeral Home, 120 E. Front Street Alice, Texas on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 3 pm to 9 pm; with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Realitos, Texas at 3 pm; burial will follow at Realitos Cemetery.
